About Alice Cornish

I am an education specialist with experience working in different parts of the sector, from early years to higher education. I have worked across different regions, including the UK, North America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, South Asia, and the GCC. I am currently a Director at Better Purpose where I work with organisations who want to make a difference through education. We support with strategic planning, operational effectiveness and the design and delivery of education initiatives. Before co-founding Better Purpose, I was Head of Programmes for the Varkey Foundation, where I was responsible for ensuring that all global programmes were of the highest possible quality and for expanding the programme portfolio. I was also responsible for the Varkey Teacher Ambassador Programme which convenes Global Teacher Prize finalists from around the world to advocate for their profession. Before joining the Varkey Foundation, I was an Education Strategy Consultant at PwC and GEMS Education Solutions. I qualified as an English teacher through the UK’s Teach First programme and hold a Masters in History from the University of Edinburgh.
