About Alice Mitchell

Student affairs assessment and research professional committed to impactful student affairs work that "counts" through the use of assessment processes and data-informed refinements in our practice. I have over 20 years' experience at local and national levels and in multiple student affairs functional areas (including residence life, career services, commuter services, and others). My functional area experience has helps me "bring assessment down to earth" for hard-working practitioners with no time but who embrace assessment best if they see its direct benefit in their work. I hold a PhD in College Student Personnel Administration with a doctoral certificate in measurement, statistics,and evaluation, earned from the University of Maryland College Park. I am familiar with CampusLabs, Qualtrics, SPSS, SQL, and Microsoft Access/Excel/Word/Powerpoint, as well as quantitative and qualitative assessment and research methods. At the University of Maryland College Park, I hold graduate faculty status and have taught the student affairs assessment course in our masters degree program in student affairs. My national service has included three terms on the ACPA Governing Board, Chair of the Commission for Assessment and Evaluation, three terms as Convention Assessment Coordinator, two terms on the Editorial Board of the Journal of College Student Development and service on the National College Testing Association Governing Board as both a member and as the NCTA Alternate Representative to CAS (Council for the Advancement of Standards). I have been recognized for my student affairs contributions by receiving the ACPA Annuit Coeptis, Diamond Honoree, and Voice of Inclusion Award among other recognitions.
