About Alicia Nugent
I have a strong interest in developing therapeutics to treat neurodegenerative diseases. My lab uses human data to develop disease-relevant in vitro models to inform target and biomarker discovery efforts for multiple sclerosis. Additionally, we identify target engagement and pathway activation pharmacodynamic biomarkers for early stage neuroscience programs as therapeutics progress toward clinical development. I obtained my PhD in neuroscience from Harvard University in 2016, where I studied the neurodevelopmental circuitry underlying eye movements using mouse models of human genetic disorders. I then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Denali Therapeutics where I elucidated the role of TREM2 in microglial and brain lipid metabolism. I started a lab in the Human Pathobiology and OMNI Reverse Translation Department at Genentech in 2021.
