About Alicia Wilkinson

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am both diligent in the field and committed to the profession. I started my journey in 2011 with a passion to help advance the wellbeing of those I service. My mission is to successfully empower individuals, families, and the community abroad by providing information and skills needed to thrive and maintain healthy systematic relationships. I am currently employed through the Department of Veteran Affairs. It is an honor and privilege to help homeless veterans feel a sense of comfort and safety as a HUD-VASH Social Worker. Before embarking on serving those who have given so much to our country, I worked for BayCare Health System as a Licensed Clinician, contracted through the Polk County School Board helping students reach their social and emotional goals. Prior to joining BayCare’s extraordinary team, I worked as a Mental Health Specialist for the Department of Corrections. During my tenure, I generated individualized treatment and service plans, provided individual and group counseling, provided on-call suicide prevention through psychological emergencies and developed discharge plans including referrals to community resources for continued mental health treatment upon prison release for over 300 internees. Aside from being a clinician, I am a published author. In my self-help book, Afloat: Positive Thinking: Transform Your Life With The Power Of Thinking Positively, I guide readers through techniques they can implement immediately to begin a journey of increased success in all facets of their lives. I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Claflin University in 2009 and a Master of Social Work in 2011, from the University of South Carolina. I enjoy volunteering with my mentoring group, “I’m Proud of Me Mentoring”, traveling with friends and trying new adventures.
