About Alida Pretorius

I have been working in the marketing and communications arena for over two decades. As part of a dynamic national marketing team, I have worked the entire spectrum, from being a runner to handling an entire communications portfolio. Internal communication will always have a special place in my heart, and that is what I chose to specialise in. I truly believe an engaged workforce that buys into company philosophy and strategy is the most powerful way to move your business forward. Inviting skilled people into a safe, inclusive, diverse, engaged space for collaboration is the alchemy of the business world. I honed my skills from humble beginnings as a correspondence clerk with big dreams. I studied marketing and communication part-time while progressing through various roles, including supervisor, contact center product specialist, and marketing practitioner. In my private capacity, I pursued training as a neurolinguistic programming practitioner, leadership practitioner, and end-of-life doula. Palliative care as a community-encompassing empathetic practice continues to fascinate and engage me, and I love working with the wonderful team at Sungardens Hospice to create greater awareness for this crucial branch of integrated healthcare. As a communications specialist, I wholeheartedly support a plain, transparent, simple approach to getting the point across, and the integration of storytelling to draw people in through a shared narrative. I am passionate about true connection, honest, vulnerable communication, inclusion, and empathetic, courageous leadership.
