About Alisha Camacho
I’m a creative professional on a mission to produce meaningful content that empowers, educates, and inspires positive change toward healthier communities and the environment. I bring expertise and experience in communications, marketing, environmental education, and multimedia production and design. Leaning into analytics, qualitative feedback, and insight, I always strive to approach projects and issues holistically. I am pursuing my Master's in Journalism degree at the University of Maryland from 2023 – 2024. I graduated with honors from The George Washington University, receiving my BA in Geography and Environmental Studies. In 2020, I became a certified Educator with National Geographic and completed a Digital Marketing Certification in 2022. On any given day, you will likely find me talking about gardening, landscape design, sustainability, climate change, the circular economy, small businesses, equity, environmental justice, documentaries, photography, graphic design, health and wellness, my rock collection, podcasts, books, food intolerances/quirks, coffee, hiking, and our dogs. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Throughout my career, I have worked with amazing people on impactful projects, and we’ve had some wins along the way. A few highlights include: • Receiving the 2022 AVA Digital Awards Gold Winner for the production of a website dedicated to supporting women of color entrepreneurs: https://ewoc.wacif.org • Receiving the 2021 MarComms Gold Award for the design and production of an annual impact report • Designing Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum’s traveling exhibit “Capturing Anacostia” • Publishing an op-ed featured in The Washington Post in 2018, highlighting local environmental justice issues •Pioneering an education program introducing youth to Dumbarton Oaks Park • My documentary and advocacy work was featured in The Washington Post and recognized at the Chesapeake Watershed Forum in 2015, 2016 & 2017
