About Alisha Farooqi

Business graduate turned healthcare professional, currently working as a Cardiac Physiologist at Imperial College NHS Trust. My early career in sales and marketing helped me build confidence, strong communication, and problem-solving skills, all of which I now apply in clinical settings. I’ve gained hands-on experience in 12-lead ECG interpretation, ambulatory monitoring (Holter monitors, and Event Recorders), and Exercise Tolerance Testing. I’ve also developed strong skills in the cath lab, where I regularly support PCI and TAVI procedures by documenting, monitoring, and assisting with pressure wire and IVUS systems. During TAVI cases, I have provided external pacing support under supervision. I’ve supported pacemaker follow-up clinics and observed implant procedures. I’m trained in both Basic and Immediate Life Support and have learned to stay calm and responsive in high-pressure situations. My final-year dissertation focused on conduction system pacing in heart failure patients, which deepened my understanding of cardiac electrophysiology and device therapy. Moving into cardiac physiology has been a big change but one that’s been incredibly rewarding. I’m especially keen to keep building my experience in the cath lab and continue developing in advanced cardiac diagnostics and procedural support.
