About Alison Bailey

I studied at The University of Limerick, Ireland, for 4 years completing the Materials and Architectural Technology with a concurrent teacher education teacher training course. Throughout this course, I complete 2 blocks of in-school placement totaling 16 weeks, in the subjects of Wood Technology, Technical Graphics, Design and Communication Graphics, and Construction Studies. Upon completing this course, I moved to Guildford, England where I taught at the highly acclaimed George Abbot School. At this establishment, I taught Design and Technology: Materials, and Graphics. I educated many GCSE year groups from year 7 to year 11, including seeing a year group through their GCSE with a full passing rate. I was also very involved in the planning and implementation of the Silver Duke of Edinburgh award at the school. After staying in George Abbot for 2 wonderful years, I returned to Ireland where I taught in a variety of schools as a substitute and on-call teacher for 4 months. Next, I worked in The School of the Holy Spirt, Kilkenny, Ireland. This special school gave me a wonderful opportunity to develop my skills in the areas of special and differentiated education. Following 6 months here, 4 of which were remote teaching, I moved to Colaiste Iosagain, Portarlington, Ireland. Here I spent the year split between remote, online teaching, and in-classroom teaching of Wood Technology and Graphics. Most recently I spent the 21-22 school year at Mountmellick Community School, teaching Engineering, Wood Technology, Graphics, and Maths. I have enjoyed developing my knowledge and expertise in all of the subject areas over the last academic year. After moving to Vancouver, Canada, I have begun teaching as a Remedial Math Specialist at Fraser Academy. I spent time from September to October 22 as An English as a Second Language Instructor also, utilizing my TELF course. And from January to February as a Classroom assistant.
