About Alison Eardley

I am a Reader in Psychology, Cultural Heritage and Inclusion at University of Westminster, with over 15 years of experience in research and teaching. My mission is to use psychological theories and methods to understand and improve the museum experience for diverse audiences and communities. I have worked in collaboration with museums and the heritage sector on multiple projects, exploring inclusive interpretation, audio description and multisensory engagement. Crucial to this work is a consideration of the impact of museum experiences on audiences. I apply expertise from psychology on autobiographical memory, spatial understanding, multisensory perception, memory and imagery to the design and evaluation of inclusive and accessible museum environments. I am skilled in quantitative and qualitative research, research design, data analysis, editing, science communication, and public speaking. I hold a Ph.D. in Psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London, and an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology from University of Reading, and a Postgraduate Certificate in museums, galleries and contemporary culture from the University of Westminster.
