As a public affairs officer with the Government of Alberta, I was responsible for- Writing speaking notes, news releases, briefing notes, letters, legislative material and other communications products for Premier, Cabinet Ministers and senior executives - Editing a variety of material from brochures to annual reports - Providing media relations on various topics (print, radio and on-camera experience)- Providing strategic communications support to the Minister, senior executives and program clients within the departments - Providing one-on-one briefings at a ministerial/senior executive level - Developing proactive strategies and messaging to manage anticipated issues - Monitoring and analyzing media stories - Strategic communications planning, project management and event planning (e.g. Court Case Management Program, A Learning Alberta post-secondary review and Minister’s Forum, Alberta Centennial Education Savings Plan launch, Alberta Emergency Services Medal inaugural ceremony)- Coordinating advertising and graphic design projects (e.g. radio and television ads, brochures, posters)- Assisting in the drafting of legislation and supporting bills (speaking notes, news releases, media relations) as they go through the various stages of the legislative process - Developing and executing public awareness campaigns and liaising with media to promote events - Providing media training/support for technical experts in the department - Preparing and coordinating provincial budget communications materials, participating in budget day roll-out and planning ongoing media exposure related to budget (Alberta Finance, Budget 2007 and 2008)
