About Alison Nicolin

As a solution-focused and purpose-driven Principal Process Engineer, I bring a passion for decarbonising the energy value chain, 20+ years of extensive experience in design engineering, and proven success leading feasibility and FEED studies for novel, first-of-their-kind biofuels, green hydrogen, green ammonia production, processing, storage, and export developments. My career as a process engineer spans the renewable energy sector and beyond, including delivery of front-end engineering (FEED) and detailed design, construction, and commissioning for projects across oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, and water/wastewater sectors. I have worked both client-side and in a consulting capacity to deliver innovative design and optimisation solutions, building credibility as a trusted expert advisor to technical and non-technical stakeholders to influence value creation across the asset lifecycle. I lead strategic process safety initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams, applying robust risk management frameworks, and embedding consistent compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. With an empowering leadership style, I enjoy developing others. As Head of Process Engineering for Wood, I led a national team of 40+ process engineering specialists, actively building capability, nurturing talent, and fostering innovative team culture across multi-site operations. I am a champion for Women in STEM and was the lead organiser, and a presenter, for the inaugural Women in Green Hydrogen (WiGH) Conference in 2023.
