About Alison Poltock
Alison Poltock is currently in her 15th year as the Artistic Director of the East End Film Festival. Having previously lived as an exhibiting artist and MD of her own events company, Alison’s introduction to the world of film came via her post-graduate study in soundtrack composition. This love for all the arts, coupled with her enthusiasm for big screen storytelling and passion for supporting new voices has seen the East End Film Festival grow in recent years from exhibiting 14 feature films in 2007 to around 300 short and feature titles across 13 major venues in 2015. During this period she introduced many initiatives including International awards, directorial residences, an extensive cross-arts outdoor programme, a one-day music festival involving over 70 bands and CineEast - a multi-arts Fringe Festival across100 local pop-up venues. The East End Film Festival welcomed many notable names from the world of film and music including Hugh Grant, Andrea Riseborough, Ken Russell, The Libertines, Lee Scratch Perry, Danny Boyle, Jaime Winstone and many others. The festival closed in 2020 during the first lockdown.
