About Alison Ross

I'm an Administrative Support and Communications Professional specializing in accuracy. I began my career as a student in an undergraduate program that combined classes at both the University of Toronto and Sheridan College. I completed a major in Communication, Culture and Information Technology and a second major in Professional Writing. The coursework combined creative arts, digital marketing, and journalism. As I went through the program, I was drawn to the detail-oriented, research-heavy, and accuracy-centric journalism and non-fiction writing classes. I found internships and freelance work in communications, focused on news writing, blogging, and report writing, including a white paper. I transitioned into the insurance industry. I worked in the auto claims department at Aviva Canada for over 5 years. I developed customer service and administrative skills. Recently, I started taking courses and practicums in minute-taking to become a freelance Recording Secretary. I love it. Minute-taking combines my passion for writing with my drive for accuracy. I've always loved movies and pop culture. I exercise this love in my spare time by writing arts & culture articles for Medium and Peliplat.
