Background

About Alison Ruble

I'm a seasoned, mission-driven executive who has dedicated nearly 20 years to helping people and communities thrive. A cornerstone of my career has been progressive leadership with the USO. I've led strategic vision and planning, program and board development, fundraising, and change management for complex operations, and guided diverse stakeholders through historic and definitive organizational transitions while serving as an inspirational lead ambassador. As a COO, I balanced a budget shortfall, stabilized operations, and refocused development. As a CEO, I executed a comprehensive strategic planning process, mobilizing a 50-member fiduciary board and launching a 3-year,$3M capital campaign that exceeded goal and raised over $4M in only 2 years. As Regional President, I led a mediation process that successfully merged five affiliate organizations, including 20 facilities, 30 staff and four Boards, into one cohesive 10-state region. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, I've led initiatives that scaled in-person and online programming, doubling program delivery, and addressed digital transformation for the organization, securing funding that facilitated transformational change on a global scale. Throughout my time at the USO, I secured over $47M in revenue from foundations, individuals, and corporations, including several principal gifts that supported the expansion of visionary programs. Prior to my roles with the USO, I founded and operated my own music production and management business, This Is A Bird Productions, LLC. With over $100K in annual billings, I managed a complex roster of musical artists, engineers, and technicians, providing comprehensive services to a diverse clientele, including leading corporations, cultural organizations, entertainment venues, and individual patrons in the Chicago area. An accomplished vocal artist, I've produced two, critically acclaimed jazz recordings on the Origin Records label; “This Is A Bird,” (2008) and “Ashland,” (2010.) My career in music and with the USO has shaped my leadership style as an executive. Employing a team approach, I'm dedicated, highly accountable, detail-oriented, and adept at developing partnerships through strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. My extensive experience in public affairs and serving as lead ambassador supports my ability to inspire and successfully engage with a wide variety of communities. Above all, I'm a servant-leader and a true believer that creative collaboration is the pathway to success.
