I am a flexible and nuanced writer and speaker. I believe that effective writing and speaking come from an understanding of one's audience and purpose for communicating. Any successful communication begins with listening and asking questions before crafting a message to serve a specific situation. I am passionate about creating environments that facilitate engaged and creative discussion. In both the classroom and the conference room, I strive to provide opportunities for creative and critical thinking in order to build understanding of complex ideas and texts and to provide solutions to problems. I am a self-motivated researcher and learner. Throughout my career I have immersed myself in new areas of expertise in order to teach or improve processes at my institutions. I am excited by opportunities to dive deep into a new facet of culture or to better understand how someone quite different from me understands our world.
