About Alison Thompson

We all have a story to tell, and my passion is helping people share their stories with the world through the medium of books. So let me start by telling you my own story. As a child I wanted to be a radio producer but deafness in one ear thwarted that particular dream. However, I began a career in the publishing industry and set up The Proof Fairy in 2009, initially offering proofreading, copywriting and editing to authors and small businesses. However, not content with editing other people's books, in March 2013 I wrote and self-published my own book,"The Boy from Hell: Life with a Child with ADHD", which has since been re-published by Jessica Kingsley Publishing. I spent three years on the ADHD speaker circuit, appeared on LBC, SKY News and Channel 5, and had articles published on Huffington Post and in local and national media. From then on, I began to focus on helping aspiring authors take their idea for a book from possibility to plan to publication through coaching & mentoring, editing & proofreading, formatting, upload and cover design. I grew up in London and lived across the Home Counties and in rural central Portugal before settling in the colourful city of Gloucester.
