About Alistair Byars

I am an accomplished and innovative Product Design Engineer, who has worked with various organisations across multiple design fields, including furniture, clothing and homeware. I have an MEng (first class) in Product Design Engineering from Glasgow University and Glasgow School of Art. My comprehensive design portfolio and website show examples of my design projects and concepts which I am happy to provide upon request for interested parties. I am passionate and committed to pursuing a career in design and I believe my exceptional academic record is supported by my portfolio of projects.I have worked with complex technology, completed visualisation projects and continuously delivered eye catching and well resolved products with collaborators and brands such as Studio Toogood and GEO Design House. I learn how to use new tools quickly and easily and have over 7 years experience working with industry software packages and prototyping projects. I believe an idea only becomes exceptional once it has been executed correctly and its potential has been realised in physical form. For this, a genuine curiosity, technical understanding and attention to detail at every level of analysis must be present.My experience includes working with different materials and manufacturing processes covering casting, woodwork, metalwork, welding, 3D-printing and mouldmaking. As well as physical aspects of design, I am also exceptionally proficient with standard CAD software including SolidWorks, Fusion 360 and Rhino 3D. I adapt quickly to new concepts, understand emerging trends, and have the ability to create exciting visions and concepts that are totally unique and capture the imagination. I utilise my strong interpersonal and communication skills to build long lasting relationships with different organisations, colleagues, clients and collaborators.
