About Alistair Lang

Alistair is a Vancouver born and raised investment professional, passionate about the world of corporate finance, wealth management, and security analysis. He graduated from the University of Victoria receiving his B.A. as an Economics Major with a Business Option. He then went on to complete his Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Alistair’s studies allowed him to gain new skills and techniques in the quickly growing field of Data Analytics. The program covered such areas as forecasting, regression analysis, prescriptive analytics, predictive analytics, data cubes, MySQL, the ETL process, and work with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS). Alistair is currently a Senior Consultant/AVP, Technical Product Management working for Charles River Development (CRD) that became part of State Street in 2018. Specifically this role involves working on the implementation side for the Compliance Practice team. His contributions to the organization include defining client requirements, configuring and tuning the application to the client’s business and technical needs, training users, testing workflows and resolving issues before taking the client “live”. Prior to CRD, Alistair worked as a Senior Portfolio Compliance Analyst in the Operational Risk Group department for Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group. This role was responsible for the setup, monitoring and review of trading restrictions for the company and its affiliates. On a day-to-day basis, it requires analyzing and working with large and disparate data sets all while maintaining knowledge of and abiding with the various regulatory regimes the firm works in. Before CC & L, Alistair leveraged his comprehensive knowledge of the investment industry to explain and articulate solutions for his own clients at his past role at BMO Financial Group as a Financial Services Manager. He assisted his clients in uncovering their financial needs, and matching them with solutions that work for them. His areas of focus included investments, trusts, personal/commercial banking, loan underwriting, and estates. At 'TD Wealth - Private Investment Advice' Alistair was a Client Service Associate / Licensed Sales Assistant. Working directly with a small team assisting two senior Portfolio Managers managing a discretionary book of ultra high-net-worth clients. The organization was a full service brokerage firm offering multiple services to clients through their Trust, Tax, and Private Banking divisions.
