I have been working for Bee Vectoring Technologies for over two years now where I am solely responsible for redesigning their products and managing its production from start to finish. BVT uses solar-powered dispensers to harmlessly attach organic fungicide onto bees during their pollination to reduce crop diseases and pests. When I first started, these dispensers barely functioned as intended and required many hours of research into rheology and bee behaviour. I used Fusion 360 to 3D print different features and used a design of experiments to finally be able to dispense the required amount of powder over a specified number of days. I have since made it weatherproof and tripled the capacity which cuts down the labour for maintenance by half. My scope of work also includes getting quotes from overseas suppliers, managing the tooling changes, supply chain management, supervising the assembly line, quality control, all the way down to shipping and packaging. For all the equipment in the plant, I have created an FMEA, an operational readiness checklist, a preventative maintenance plan, SOPs, and implemented an ERP system for inventory management, creating purchase orders, and raw material tracing using lot numbers.
