Marketer. Hunter. Angler. Explorer. Writer.By day Allen runs an advertising agency located in his home state of Michigan, where he enjoys chasing whitetail, trout, and birds. Beyond Michigan, you'll often find him roaming the backcountry of Montana, Idaho, Colorado, or Wyoming. He’s an avid outdoorsman and enjoys backpacking, camping, fly fishing, hunting, skiing, and watersports. Allen was a founding member and served as co-chair of the Michigan Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers and currently serves as Vice President for Pere Marquette Trout Unlimited. He is an active member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers, and the Michigan Outdoor Writers Association.​His personal website, allenoutside.com, features stories, tips, and gear reviews for outdoor adventurers. He is an Editor at Large and regular contributor to Strung Sporting Journal, and pens a quarterly feature for Michigan Out-of-Doors Magazine. His writing has also been published in a number of other sporting publications including Gray's Sporting Journal, Fly Fisher, Fly Fusion, Upland Almanac, Tom Beckbe's Field Journal, Solace, and Backcountry Journal. His first book,"Outside in Shorts," was honored with the Harold Opie Titus Award for Best Book in 2023, and he recently released his second book,"For Everything There is a Season."Allen began at Stevens Advertising in 1998, became a partner in and was named President in 2005.
