About Allen Vaughan
A journalist by trade and entrepreneur by proxy, I have worked inside and outside the mainstream. I started my career at Gannett (Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader and, in the most turbulent of times, created TAG Magazine, a promotional company that used modern multimedia techniques to creatively capture attention span. In July of 2019, I became the General Manager of the Daily Nebraskan. Why? I wanted to get back to running a small business, and put my skills to work to position a special legacy brand to thrive in the future. We are doing special things in the basement of the UNL Student Union. Previously, in June of 2014, I was hired back by the News-Leader to enhance their digital presence and join their management team. On December 1 was named as the No. 3 in the newsroom. In August of 2016, I was promoted to be the digital editor of the Des Moines Register - a top leadership role at one of the most prestigious news organizations in the country.
