About Allen Voss

I bring over 30 years of leadership in the areas of operations, safety, quality, compliance, learning and development, and training management. Leadership is my number one capability, from direct level to organizational level, to strategic level. I have led small, four-person teams, to large organizations of 2,500. Leadership remains constant, regardless of the size or purpose of the group, or the environment you lead in. Leadership is a different skill than management, and understanding this distinction is key to succeeding in the various roles I have served. I believe leadership is a contact sport, and leaders should always set the example for their teams. My operational experience includes both the military and corporate environments. Previous experience spans from a twelve-man operations management role in the elevator industry, to the Chief Operating Officer for an Army division of over 2,500 Soldiers. Operations management is similar to leadership, in that the tenants of good operational management are the same, regardless of the environment.My experience in safety, quality management systems and compliance started with the military and expanded further in the corporate world. Throughout my professional career, my teams consistently led our organization in quality and compliance metrics. All three areas are rooted in understanding established regulations, meeting and exceeding those standards and regulations, and creating new one when needed. Constant evaluation of processes and procedures are necessary to ensure my teams are meeting those standards, and periodic adjustments are sometimes necessary. In addition to leadership, my entire career included training management and learning and development. My roles have made me responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s learning and development strategy, in both and corporate environments. These responsibilities ranged from simple training classes for individual personnel, to developing professional learning strategies for the entire U.S. Army. These roles have included instructor, curriculum creator, faculty developer, training manager, assistant professor, and academic department director. My final role was leading an academic department of 71 instructors and over students in a graduate level educational program.
