About Allison Anderson

Trained to develope, fell in love with software testing. Computers have always been an interest of mine, from a young age I found myself learning as much as I could about computers and how to do new things. Throughout college, testing my own code or others was always something I enjoyed, there's nothing like the feeling you get when you think of a scenario a dev didn't cover and it results in breaking the program! Having a programming background really aids me when thinking of testcases because I understand how code works and it helps me pinpoint potential weaknesses in code. Even after taking a step away from software testing, I still catch myself on the daily thinking about how things were potentially coded and see if there's a way to break it. I can't help but try to break code as I go about my day. I've realize that software testing isn't just another job to me, it's something I enjoy and works perfectly with my day to day thinking patterns. While I was at Integra (Red Sails), I quickly learned the dos and don'ts of testing, how important clear and concise documentation is, how important communication is between different departments, and the sooner you speak up for help, the better. Another thing I continued to learn while I was there is the ability to rephrase my sentences when people are not understanding something rather than repeating myself over and over again. Not everyone thinks or learns in the same way, being able to change how I'm saying something is an amazing and crucial ability to have in order to help your team thrive. My goal in life is to be that person who is understanding, approachable, and kind. In my experience I've found this to be something lacking within the tech industry and I'd like to be someone who helps change that. The more comfortable people feel coming to you with questions, the more you can help both them and the company grow! Sharing knowledge shouldn't provoke negative emotions for anyone, those kinds of emotions will result in people not speaking up when they need help or are falling behind. This just stunts the growth of the person and the company.
