Background

About Allison Dejong

I am a planner and policy researcher with over 15 years' experience in interdisciplinary planning and policy research for US communities, state governments, and federal agencies. I lead the Water Institute's work on decarbonization and climate policy, and support planning and policy research projects for urban resilience, climate adaptation, water resources, alternative valuations of natural resources, hazard mitigation, and risk and vulnerability assessments. I also lead the Insurance Affordability and Availability focus area of the Community Resilience Center at the Water Institute, where we connect, innovate, and pilot specific concepts to advance practice in the increasingly complex insurance space. I am an experienced facilitator, presenter, and advisor, using decision analysis methods to frame technical and scientific information for regulatory, programmatic, and planning contexts. My team uses innovative methods from the Decision Making under Deep Uncertainty (DMDU) community of practice to structure research and planning efforts for the most critical problems facing US communities, including climate action and multi-hazard physical and financial risk.
