About Allison Hack

As a public health educator, health leader, and gymnastics coach, I am passionate about fostering adolescent health, behavior change, and leadership development in both academic and athletic settings. With knowledge in public health, epidemiology, and health policy from my doctoral studies, I bring a research-driven approach to improving student well-being and engagement. My doctoral research explored specific social media platforms and digital technologies used by late adolescents to influence health behaviors. The study investigated trends among adolescents who use social media for health information and examined the efficacy of these platforms as an alternative to formal sources of learning. Currently, I serve as the PE and Health Department Chair at Benito Juarez High School, where I design competency-based, student-centered health curricula that emphasize equity, cultural relevance, and real-world application. I have experience leading large, diverse classrooms, implementing innovative health education strategies, and supporting students of all backgrounds, including English Language Learners and students with special needs. Beyond the classroom, I have dedicated 15+ years to coaching high school gymnastics, leading teams to record-breaking achievements, including State qualifications and school history milestones. I also manage social media and create digital content for my team, blending my creativity with my passion for coaching. I am actively engaged in professional organizations such as the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (IAHPERD) and the Illinois High School Girls Gymnastics Coaching Association (IHSGGCA), staying current on best practices in health education, fitness, and athletic coaching. With expertise in health leadership, behavior change, community health, and program development, I strive to make a lasting impact on students, athletes, and the broader field of public health education.
