Background
About Allison Kojima
Hello! My name is Allison Kojima, a Chemical Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I have a diverse background in process engineering, manufacturing, laboratory research, and leadership roles. As a Manufacturing Engineer at 3M's Traffic Safety Division, I successfully executed Lean Six Sigma green belt projects, resulting in in cost savings for License Plate Overlaminates. I worked closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient manufacturing processes, while maintaining strong communication with external suppliers for troubleshooting and yield improvements. During my time at 3M, I also served as an Optimized Operation Engineer, gaining in-depth knowledge of License Plate Overlaminate and Validation Material. I actively participated in leadership development and project management initiatives, while representing 3M through volunteering at local and out-of-state nonprofit organizations to optimize their operations. I have also gained valuable experience as a Process Engineer intern at Nouryon, where I focused on enhancing worker safety and environmental compliance through modifications to formaldehyde detectors on carbon drums. Additionally, my co-op experience as a Process Automation Engineer at Corteva Agriscience involved developing automation processes and creating piping and instrumentation diagrams (P & ID) for a chemical plant. Outside of my professional roles, I actively engaged in research and development projects. As an Undergraduate Researcher in the Lee Lab at UIUC, I contributed to the study of biobased chemical alternatives derived from industrial hemp. I also collaborated with the Harley Lab, assisting in the creation of a 3D biomaterial model for understanding female reproductive complications. Throughout my time at the university, I have demonstrated leadership as the President of the UIUC Kendo Club, where I taught members the art of Kendo while promoting mental and physical strength. Additionally, as the Vice President of the UIUC Powerlifting Club, I coached powerlifting basics and organized tournaments. I am actively seeking new opportunities where I can apply my skills, contribute to a company's success, and embrace new challenges. I invite you to connect with me to explore potential collaborations, networking opportunities, or to discuss how I can contribute to your organization.
