About Allison Menegoni

Allison is full-time faculty with the Recreation and Leisure Services program, School of Community Studies, at Fanshawe College, London, Ontario. She delights in helping students discover their vocations and passions through the identification of personal strengths, and clarification of deeply held values. Allison is notorious for giving lots of (MEANINGFUL!) homework and cool projects. As a passionate lifelong learner, she delights in watching student creativity at work and witnessing learning and unique awarenesses take root. In her teaching, Allison constantly dips into her professional background as an Employment Counsellor, Life Coach, Experiential Educator and Adventure-Based Outdoor Recreation Therapist. She applies principles of applied positive psychology and brain-based learning in all aspects of her pedagogical work. Allison utilizes her 25+ years as an expert team-builder in both the corporate and non-profit sectors as a path to connecting fully with her students. Using a wide variety of experiential tools – some playful, some applied, practical or theoretical - she facilitates a wide variety of classroom experiences in order that her students will be better able to 'land the learning'. Allison’s teaching and lecture style is highly interactive, and tailored to meet the needs of the students. She has a specialized background in working with those in forensic mental health, specifically male offenders, gang-affiliated youth, and marginalized female populations. She has a special place in her heart for the value of wilderness and adventure-based therapeutic recreation. Allison is considered an expert in the field of human relations, behavioural interactions, relationships and team dynamics. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Central Michigan University (CMU) with a Masters in Arts - Education (MA-Ed), concentration in Community Colleges.
