Background
About Allison Miller
Three words that describe me best are compassionate, curious, and hardworking. Regarding compassion, I am very kind and always look to better anything I am doing. Whether it is volunteering at a local charity or just helping out a friend, I am always trying to spread positivity. I am not afraid to ask questions, no matter the situation I am always curious about what is going on and always trying to learn new things. In terms of hardworking, I am someone who loves the feeling of accomplishing things. Whether it is on the tennis court, in the classroom, at my job, working hard is something that I pride myself on. I have and continue to have the same goals of working towards a successful future. As the captain of my tennis team, I had to lead professionally and positively. Starting my own business and improving all aspects of it including the social media sparked my interest and connects to my intended major of marketing at Indiana University in the Kelley School of Business, which I hope to pursue in the future. Compassionate: I started a cookie business with a main goal of giving back to my local community by donating a portion of my profits. My goal however, was to not only give a portion of my profits to this organization, but also make a change by getting involved and to personally buy the food that they needed. Doing these deeds not only made me feel like a good person, but showed me how important supporting your community is. Knowing that I positively impacted my neighborhood was extremely rewarding. Curious: During my internship at Oze Capital Alternative Asset Management, I saw a side of investing I have never seen before that intrigued me. This involved many new ideas which left me motivated to learn, yearning for a deeper understanding. I asked many questions to my mentor throughout the process showing my curiosity about the subject. As a result of the many questions and the application of my new knowledge, I now have an understanding of the types of investments Oze Capital focuses on, as well as other general business knowledge. Hard Working: I have had many jobs throughout my life so far as well as experiences which have kept me motivated. In high school I worked at a local clothing store where I gained more responsibilities as time went on. I also started a cookie business, played varsity tennis for my high school where I was the captain senior year, babysat kids in my neighborhood and lastly, in the summers worked as a camp counselor. Through experiences I have learned that in order to be successful you need to work hard.
