About Allison Mooney
My name is Allison and I am a soon-to-be graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver's applied geology program. My most recent work experience as a tour guide and supervisor at Dinosaur Ridge in Colorado has provided me with the opportunity to work in a geologically unique setting where my tasks included recognizing and interpreting geologic processes and explaining those processes to guests. I have also completed a two-week long field camp in the summer of 2022 where I practiced various field techniques in the Colorado Plateau study area. I am very passionate about this field of study, and have also completed my own research project where I used powder x-ray fluorescent analysis to study how trace elemental differences in topaz rhyolites of western Utah can be used to indicate the presence of red beryl. I am very excited to start my career as a geologist and look forward to seeing the opportunities that Houston holds.
