Background
About Allison Moore
Editor, program director, project manager, mentor, content writer. 15+ years working with authors and illustrators at trade publishing houses to create books that inspire people to fall in love with reading, engage with other readers, and find windows to unique experiences and diverse points of view, while collaborating with interdepartmental and cross-functional teams to pitch, create, QA, and publish high-quality final products. For many years I was a core volunteer at local immigrant aid nonprofit Atlas:DIY, where I served on the board, led the young professionals committee, and ran a teen book club with members. I was also recently on the board of the nonprofit Women's Media Group. I enjoy mentoring and have also worked with students at the Columbia and NYU publishing programs. I have been called an initiator, a super-connector, a mentor, and someone who leaves places and projects better than when I found them. Editorial specialties: book positioning in the US market, the publishing and editorial process, reader behavior, book data, big-picture manuscript editing, line editing, book cover strategy, manuscript critiques, illustration portfolio review, proofreading, comp titles and book recommendations, teaching non-publishing and international colleagues about the US market and publishing norms Additional skills and interests: statistics and market strategy, books and tech, broader children’s media, contemporary romance books and movies, web fiction/serialized fiction, general fiction, bookselling and bookstores, retail and sales strategy, libraries, literacy initiatives, nonprofit programming, grant writing and editing, book clubs, subscription boxes, how AI will affect the book space, resume review, career mentoring for college students and recent graduates I am a comfortable and dynamic public speaker (online and in person) and have enjoyed presenting at writers' conferences and other events about the publishing market. See my website for more information. Connect with me on @allisonm610. Find out more about me, my favorite bookstores, and the books I’ve edited at allisonmooreedits.com.
