About Allison Ottesen

I am an epidemiologist with an educational background in critical theory, sociology, anthropology, social justice, human sexuality, biostatistics, epidemiology, and behavioral science. I completed my master’s in public health at The University of Southern California. My work experience includes both local and state-level public health work in STD studies, vaccine-preventable disease, and COVID outbreak surveillance and epidemiology as well as program and grants management for a nonprofit focused on capacity-building within the safety net. I am primarily interested in work that allows me to marry my early academic background in sociology and behavioral science with my additional academic background in epidemiology and biostatistics. I am committed to serving underserved communities and dismantling oppressive power structures both within and outside of the broader healthcare system to improve health and wellness on a population level.
