About Allison Perales

Finally I was able to see that if I had a contribution I wanted to make, I must do it, despite what others said. That I was OK the way I was. That it was alright to be strong." — Wangari Maathai I graduated from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities in 2020 with a major in Global Studies and a minor in Anthropology, which shaped my understanding of global issues, cultural dynamics, and the importance of community engagement. Currently, I work as a Special Projects Coordinator II in the Travel Information Division at the Texas Department of Transportation, where I lead initiatives that drive operational efficiency and improve public services. My role involves overseeing special projects, strategic planning, policy development, and managing conferences and trainings that positively impact the public. I’m passionate about using my skills to facilitate collaboration, streamline processes, and help organizations thrive. Whether it’s coordinating large-scale events, supporting talent acquisition and onboarding efforts, or assisting with program evaluations, I am committed to delivering results that align with the organization’s goals. Outside of work, I am dedicated to giving back to my community. I volunteer with environmental initiatives in Austin and its surrounding areas, support animal welfare efforts, and work with BIPOC youth to help them reach their full potential. These experiences keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of service, inclusivity, and the power of individual contributions.
