About Allison Rutherford

I have been a champion of the BC and Canadian tech industry for over 30 years, by promoting the strategic value of HR and people practices in technology companies. Participating in the Prime Minister's Tech Roundtable, demonstrated to me just how much our BC tech sector has grown, and how instrumental HR and people practices have been in this continued growth. While working as the Director of HR for Scientific Atlanta Canada, I became aware of the power of sharing knowledge with other HR Managers in the technology field to help advance the industry in BC. This awareness drove me to help spearhead the creation of the association HR Tech Group (now TAP Network) with other like-minded HR managers in technology firms. The association is unique in Canada, and demonstrates that by sharing knowledge, all technology companies can grow and create the critical mass needed to entice more skilled individuals to work in the Canadian tech industry. The key to the success of any firm is ensuring that you have the right people, in the right positions as companies grow; without the right team, great concepts and companies can fail. As a member of TAP Network's Board of Directors I continue to see the success of this original idea to help grow the industry as a whole, across Canada. Today, over People & Culture professionals of technology firms are working together, all with the same ambition to grow technology firms in Canada through sharing knowledge. TAP Network keeps current on the people and culture needs and challenges that technology firms are confronted with, and works to help find solutions and supports all members.
