About Allison Schuricht

In December 2024, I completed my master’s degree in Food Science at the University of Illinois. My love for food chemistry blossomed through this program as I was able to apply chemical theories and techniques from my bachelor’s degree in Chemistry to advanced food systems. In my final semester, I led a flavor analysis project in which I identified many key volatile components of habanero hot sauces using GC-MS and GC-O. This project taught me valuable instrumentation skills, sensory skills, and expanded my knowledge of raw materials. I also enjoyed studying food ingredient technology for formula development and the water chemistry of foods throughout my graduate pursuits. My internship experiences in flavor creation and beverage applications provided me with valuable formulation and sensory skills. These skills, in addition to my education, caused me to receive the Women in Flavor and Fragrance Scholarship in 2023. Working in applications this summer, I led the development of several food and beverage products from concept to completion and showcased these products at a company-wide presentation.Looking forward, I am currently seeking research and development opportunities in the food and beverage field. It’s my dream to have a career where I can use my creativity and technical experience to put new, exciting food products out on the shelves.
