About Allison Walczyk

An alumna of Villanova University, I graduated in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and obtained my RN in June 2015. I currently work as a bedside nurse on a specialized Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit with therapies including ECMO, CRRT and Arctic Sun at Lehigh Valley Health Network, a level one trauma center and Magnet-designated hospital. I successfully finished the Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) program, both in the classroom and at the bedside as well as an AACN and Vizient accredited one-year Nurse Residency program at LVHN. My nurse residency group completed an evidence-based research project on the implementation of a nurse-driven ICU mobility protocol with a focus on mechanically ventilated patients. Our project goals were to improve practice on our unit. promote nurse autonomy in mobility of patients, decrease skin breakdown & address prevalence of pressure related injuries in our more acute patients. In the future, I would like to return to school to pursue a DNP in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I am a member of the American Nurses Association and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses
