About Allison Watson

I am a lifelong resident on the traditional territory of T’Sou-ke Nation. Currently, I am a Director for the BC School Trustees Association (BCSTA), including the board liaison for the Indigenous Education Committee, the Capital Working Group and the Metro Branch for Boards of Education. More recently, I served as the Chair of BCSTA’s Climate Change Working group where I developed a partnership with UBC on behave of the working group. As a result, two projects are now in process and we are seeing valuable data and guidance that will assist districts in meeting emissions targets that have been gathered with very little cost to BCSTA and boards of education. In addition, I served as a member of BCSTA’s Finance and Audit committee. My professional experience has ranged from working alongside Indigenous communities to create welcoming and inclusive classrooms; climate strategy planning, and policy reform specifically around climate action, outdoor learning and inclusion, equity and diversity. I hold a major in Indigenous studies with a focus on indigenous education including an informed understanding of the TRC’s Calls to Action, Local Enhancement Agreements, UNDRIP and DRIPA
