About Allison Wolff

I am proud to say that I have worked in 12 hospitals in the Long Island/New York City area. I started as a Biomedical Equipment Technician Intern while I was still in college in 2018. Two months after I graduated in 2019, I began my career as a Biomedical Equipment Technician I with Crothall Healthcare. When the pandemic hit in early 2020, it changed healthcare as we knew it; population centers, especially New York City, needed the most help to keep hospitals operating. I started filling in for sick workers when entire workforces were infected with the virus. I was assigned to pandemic help and pandemic relief for all of 2020, which is where I did most of my traveling to new hospitals. During this time, I had to run projects completely independently to make sure new equipment was safe for patient use and had accurate documentation. Good communication cannot be overlooked, and it is important to be able to navigate in a new environment while still meeting all deadlines. During the pandemic, I became an Imaging Specialist, taking my general biomed knowledge to the next level. I serviced portable x-ray machines, rad/fluoro rooms, surgical C-arms, contrast injectors, ultrasounds, and a CT scanner. I was even interviewed by my company about my experience in the BMET to Imaging program! I also began training new employees in biomed, imaging equipment, and database compliance. I began working at BronxCare Health in February 2022. I was assigned to transition the entire team to Crothall standards, since they were previously run by a different company. I also planned and implemented an Inventory Validation project for over unique assets of hospital and outside clinic medical equipment. I standardized maintenance schedules by identical model type or by location, depending on what made sense on a case-by-case basis. Eventually, a management position opened in December 2022, and my team and I decided I was the right person for the job, since I already had a year of intimate knowledge of that account. And that is where I am today, the Assistant Director of Biomedical Services!
