About Ally Jones

As an established leader in Operations, Ally is proud to contribute to deploying two hospital ships along the coasts of Africa, providing free surgical care and training. Rising from a role in Customs and Immigration Compliance to Senior Manager of Operations Logistics and Travel within a few months, Ally applies insights gained from five years living aboard one of the ships. In HR, Ally led an international team of recruiters and staffers to engage a global pool of volunteers for the hospital ships. With five years of experience volunteering on the Africa Mercy as a non-medical professional, he understands both the commitment required and what inspires individuals to serve with Mercy Ships. The two ships bring together professionals across various fields, from medical staff to engineers, cooks, and photographers. In his time on board the Africa Mercy, Ally oversaw several departments and managed internal communications, ensuring a positive experience for those living and serving on board. As HR Director, Ally was responsible for managing approximately 1,200 volunteers annually from up to 40 different nations. His HR team oversaw housing and commitment logistics for both short and long-term crew members. As Protocol Officer, Ally welcomed leaders and government officials from many African countries, along with ambassadors and advisors from around the world.
