About Allyson Spears

I currently serve the students in the Department of Poultry Science at Texas A&M University as a Program Coordinator. In this position, I am responsible for recruitment, coordinating departmental programs, and overall communication with the students, faculty, staff, and supporters of the department. I enjoy being able to create connections with students and help further their career opportunities. I graduated from Texas A&M University in May of 2018 with my B.S. in Agribusiness. Throughout my undergrad, I was involved in countless Student organizations as well as the Texas A&M Livestock Judging team. After graduation, I was the Livestock Contest intern for the State Fair of Texas, where I organized all of the Youth Contests for the youth of Texas. Through my unique opportunities, I have learned to efficiently interact with people of diverse backgrounds as well as effective time management and organizational skills. In November of 2018, I accepted the Program Coordinator position in the Department of Poultry Science at Texas A&M. I am currently employed there. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Agricultural Communications. My research agenda is centered on the ability of agricultural communicators and the industry to more effectively communicate with consumers and the public. In addition to my full-time position at the university, I am also the co-owner of a small antique and vintage decor business (Junk 'N Disorderly), where I manage social media accounts, communicate with clients, and purchasing of inventory. My diverse experiences have allowed me to grow with leadership development and strategies. Additionally, I am the founder and owner of an agriculture advocacy brand "Ag Chicks" as a host of a podcast, public speaker, and agvoacate.
