About Alma Knutson

As the child of two military veterans, I developed the core values of service, hard work, and collaboration at a young age. I am a resilient and motivated lifelong learner committed to improving and growing the systems around me. I have experience in education, DEI, leadership, fundraising, partnerships, hiring, and people operations. I’m a fifth grade teacher with Oklahoma City Public Schools and spend my days creating and implementing innovative and culturally responsive lesson plans, building relationships with students and families, recruiting and coaching new teachers, and leading change in the public school system - all in the pursuit of educational equity. My passion for this mission and desire to grow my scope of influence is the driving force behind my decision to seek new career opportunities. During my time as an educator with OKCPS, Stanley Hupfeld Academy Charter School, and Teach For America, I have collaborated with more than 150 administrators, teachers, and community leaders to source vital funding and materials for successful classroom learning, hire quality educators to our school teams, creatively problem solve for the myriad of strategic and operational issues that arise daily, gather and utilize data to plan and execute learning intervention programming, train faculty on the use of new curricula and software, and of course, meet and support the basic, social, and academic needs of the students I have worked with over the past 5 years. Outside of work, you can find me walking and playing with my dogs, reading a good mystery, spending time on my physical and mental wellness, traveling to visit family and friends across the globe, practicing the violin, and volunteering in my community.
