About Alora Chesney

I am a student at Morehead State University (MSU) pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Teaching with a focus in English Education. During my time at MSU, I have spent multiple hours in Secondary classrooms at Rowan County Senior High School and Bath County High School. Within these classrooms I have taught lessons of my own design, graded student work, collaborated with professional educators, and talked with students' families. Through programs such as the Morehead Writing Project and Literacy Fellowship, I have been able to achieve 200+ hours of field experience, work with students from multiple schools, gain 6 hours of Professional Development, and learn techniques for teaching writing from professionals like Liz Prather. I have also gained valuable skills from my jobs as a research assistant and community living specialist such as being able to analyze data, edit papers, communicate with a variety of people, and organize information. My overall goal is to be an effective teacher by working diligently with my future colleges to create safe and enriching environments for all students. With the skills I have gained through the experiences I have listed above, I am confident that I can achieve this goal.
