About Altug Erol

During 20 years at Robert College of Istanbul besides teaching science (primarily life sciences, but also physics, chemistry, and earth science) I served as science department chair and boarding life director, as well as designing the biology labs for the new science building and the biology curriculum. I have taught at The Stony Brook School since 2001, where I have taught Honors Biology, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science and AP Psychology. I also served as Science Department Chair concentrating on resource acquisition and curriculum (with emphasis on expanding lab and experimental work). In addition, since I have an M.Div. degree, I developed and taught Faith and Culture for the 21st Century for many years. Prior to moving to Turkey, I worked as a youth director and taught part-time at a college, While living in Istanbul, I also served two summers as Interim Pastor of the Union Church of Istanbul. My expertise is Advanced Placement (AP) Biology, where I serve as a consultant for The College Board. In that role I have been honored to present workshops and AP Summer Institutes throughout the USA and internationally (Canada, Turkey, Abu Dhabi, China, Dubai). I have participated in the "reading"(grading) of the AP Biology exam, since 1998. I have served at the Reading as a Reader, Table Leader, and Question Leader.
