About Alun Rees

I am an accomplished education leader with 25 years of senior experience in secondary schools, as a headteacher and system leader, and in a complex and demanding role with one of the UK’s largest local authorities. I have a strong moral purpose and high expectations which have enabled me to achieve positive outcomes for the people and organisations with which I have worked. I have successfully re-structured a very large secondary school; challenged and supported fellow headteachers; transformed the outcomes of some of our most vulnerable children; and successfully managed relationships with a range of professionals from within and beyond children’s services. I hold the National Professional Qualification for Headship and was a National College Consultant Leader. As well as working with the College to develop its leadership development offering regarding vulnerable children I worked with officials at the Department for Education as a member of the ‘Ministerial Expert Group on Virtual Schools’. I also worked with the DfE on the National Exclusions Trial. I am in demand as a speaker on the closing of the attainment gap and the effective use of pupil premium.
