About Alun White

I am an Architect and Town Planner. I began my career in private architectural practice before moving to local government to advise on urban design and architectural policy and its delivery. I am currently responsible for the leadership and management of the Conservation and Design Team at the States of Guernsey. I have over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. I have worked on projects ranging from:'bioclimatic' skyscrapers in Malaysia to mixed use urban extensions in England; from writing development plan policy to acting as expert witness at appeals and public inquiries. I use my wide experience and skills as both an Architect and a Town Planner to take a holistic approach to design and planning policy. My approach to design, whether it be at the scale of the building, the street or the neighborhood, is underpinned by my belief that good design comes from an understanding of local context, appropriate community involvement and brings together architecture, biodiversity, landscape, accessibility, the wise use of resources, conservation, safety and security
