About Alvaro Herrera

As a Mechanical Engineer, progressing in design based on fatigue and strength analysis is critical in making the object to the best of its design. I am quick to adapt to using CAD software packages to understand FEA and make better iterations of the 3-D model. In my mechanical intern position, I was able to learn the manufacturing process of creating pallets for semi-large-scale production. Created designs that were realistic in manufacturability with restrictions and limits to what the machine can handle. Creating new mechanisms had to be done with low cost and/or materials in the shop. Having meetings over designs to further improve with a group of four mechanical engineers. For my senior design project, I joined the two-seater electric vehicle. My role was to create the entire pedal box assemble with materials in shop. Also, I was lead of the driver interface sub-team which included the entire steering geometry, seats, and instrument panel. Coordination with each person had to be clear in order for proper fitment of columns to mounts. I made deadlines for each of my team members to meet in order to get all parts incorporated into the master assembly of the vehicle before starting production. Created report writeups to show the progression of the group and any challenges faced. Created a bill of materials with a budget and incorporate items into the cad model.
