About Alvin Layugan
Hi my name is Alvin Layugan, my culinary journey started when I was a little boy. Growing up in In the tropical island of Oahu Hawai’i. My family originated from the Philippines. As kids they were not wealthy. They did have a farm in their backyard making their money selling produce at local farmers markets. As a kid I grew up seeing all my relatives cooking and having a great time doing so and also tasting the amazing food that they prepared. In 2010 I attended the culinary institute of America and graduated with an associates degree in 2014. I did my externship in a 1 Michelin star restaurant L’atlier de Joel Robuchon in Las Vegas which later received a Mastercook position. I then worked my way up to Sous Chef at this restaurant. After 5 years I have decided to leave and accepted a Sous chef position at NoMad hotel in Las Vegas. I helped open this brand new hotel/restaurant. I later received the title of executive Sous chef of this company and overseeing all culinary operations.
