Background

About Alvin Sim

I am a thinker, forward observer, analyst, recorder and doer. I get satisfaction from asking “What” and “How". In the process, I help others identify, analyse and address legal and policy issues in a structured manner, and provide counsel to those who need to get things done the best and right way, With an eye for detail, I try to read widely on current issues. This has helped me to connect the dots between issues, and ask “Why”. I’ve learnt to look beyond the status quo, recognising that the future is not an extrapolation of the past. I have built working relationships with a wide range of people at different levels of various organizations (public, private, non-/inter-governmental) and have represented Singapore at international negotiations and forums. Though quiet by nature, I try my best to mentor those under my care to grow in their vocational journeys. These attributes have led me to work in advisory matters, legal/policy interfaces, and at the intersection of disciplines, across cultures. Finally, the challenge of leading teams with various profiles has shaped me to be a more people-oriented person.
