Background
About Alys Chang
Hello! My name is Alys Chang, and I am an aspiring Social Science teacher. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching and my teaching credential at San Jose State University. I also work at Santa Clara Swim Club as an assistant coach and administrative assistant. In my administrative role, I manage tryout scheduling and assist the team manager with USA Swimming memberships. These experiences have deepened my commitment to education and reinforced my strong sense of responsibility to make a positive impact in my community. Throughout high school and college, I gained diverse experience working with people of all ages—teaching swimming to children and adults, tutoring elementary through high school students, and serving as a leader in the Asian Student Union. During college, I also tutored students in English language skills, including reading comprehension and speaking. Now, as a graduate, I work as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and volunteer ESL teacher at Portland Community College.
