Background
About Alysha Weaver
Prepared education professional who studies lesson contents before instructing the lessons. Incorporates engagement strategies with students. Creates engaging and diverse learning strategies. Hardworking and ambitious teacher with a natural lead ability to connect and inspire children. Strong rapport skills with students and team members. Keen understanding of implanting technology in the classroom and outside of the classroom for virtual settings with students. Motivated and dedication and mind-growth mind set wanting all students to succeed. I am fairly new to the education word of teaching, I never thought I would go to school and become a teacher. I have always had a passion for children and working with them. I knew that when I went to college and made the wrong choice of choosing Psychology as my major instead of education. I went ahead and obtained my Bachelor's of Science from Purdue University. It was very difficult and challenging however to find a job or a career with just that degree. I knew that I needed to do more. I started working for the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis as a activity leader at the local elementary school in my town and I loved it. I enjoyed being able to be with the students in the school and help with homework and social skills and just be there. However I knew that job wasn't a career. I wanted to do more. In 2017, I decided to go back to school to try and obtain my Masters in School Counseling, however going through 2 classes and the expense of the classes made me question that choice and I decided in 2019 that I was going to go to WGU and get my masters in teaching elementary education while still working at the YMCA. 2021- I graduated from WGU with my degree and obtained a full time job as an ESL paraprofessional but it wasn't a career job yet nor a teaching job that I wanted. I knew that when I got my teaching license I wanted to be an interventionist teacher or a small group teacher. August 2021- I got my first full time teaching job as a reading interventionist for TGNS. But my job is grant funded and is only for two years. So I decided it was time for another certfication to teach those ELL students who have always been a passion of mine. I have been working with students in different capacties for about 10 years and I love what I get to teach them, meet them, and learn and grow with them. They are my passion. I wish that I had discovered that teaching is something I love.
