About Alyssa Alvarez

Alyssa is the Global Program Coordinator at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy. In her role, she supports the efforts of leading advocates and experts worldwide by coordinating with external stakeholders, managing program administration, and working closely on signature ITDP initiatives. Prior to this role, Alyssa was rewarded to be a Watson Fellow at Pace University. Through Watson, Alyssa worked at the Institute for Economics and Peace in Sydney, Australia. There she helped secure IEP and partner organizations a state-level grant of to host Positive Peace workshops and created a new workshop activity using community-oriented language. Before the Institute for Economics and Peace, Alyssa interned at the Asian American Federation in New York, NY where they wrote three testimonies and co-authored nine others to advance legislation that improves the well-being of the pan-Asian American community. Daily, Alyssa monitored city and state legislative hearings to ensure AAF represented the needs of the pan-Asian American community in relevant hearings. At Pace University, Alyssa led Filipino cultural awareness events for Filipino-Americans and those interested in learning more. She hopes to bridge her passion for community engagement with equitable access to resources to create a meaningful career as a leader in the non-profit sector. A Jersey City native, Alyssa enjoys the cultural diversity she can experience in any interaction, from food to exhibits. In Alyssa’s spare time, she can be found taking explorative walks with her trusty dog companion, Akira, or chasing around her cat, Nami, while learning best practices to be a responsible pet owner.
